How to use this carry-on weight calculator

Enter your trip length, climate, airline weight allowance and empty backpack weight. Generate a starting list, replace the estimated item weights with measurements from a kitchen scale, and add anything missing. Uncheck items you will leave behind or wear in transit. Print or copy your finished list.

Packing for a week with one bag

Start with versatile layers, a small toiletries kit and a plan for laundry. For longer trips, washing clothes can reduce how much you carry. The suggested clothing weights represent the whole group of items, such as all your T-shirts, rather than one piece. Shoes, laptops, medication and destination-specific essentials must be added if needed.

Does a 7 kg carry-on limit include the bag?

This calculator includes the empty bag in the total. Your airline may weigh a personal item separately or together with your carry-on. Weight, dimensions and permitted items vary by airline and fare; check the airline’s current rules before you fly.

What does one-bag travel mean?

One-bag travel means keeping your travel essentials in a single bag, often small enough for carry-on. It can make transfers simpler and reduce packing decisions. This planner is for estimating packed weight — not for verifying compliance with an individual airline's baggage policy. Item estimates vary by size, material and brand; weigh your own belongings for accuracy.
